Making Suggestion การให้คำแนะนำ

There are a lot of different ways to make a suggestion in English. 

First, we will look at the word "Let'S". It is a contraction, made by fusing the words "Let" and "us" you can say "let us" but it is much more common to say "Let's." มีหลายวิธีในภาษาอังกฤษที่ใช้ในการให้คำแนะนำ อย่างแรกเราใช้คำว่า "Let's" เป็นคำย่อจากการนำคำว่า Let และ Us มารวมกัน จริงๆ เราจะพูดว่า "Let's" เราพูดว่า "Let us " ก็ได้ แต่ทั่วไปแล้วจะใช้คำว่า "Let's" 

 

Let's is followed by the simple form of a verb. Let has a negative form, which is "Let's + not + simple verb". The meaning for "let's" is "i have a suggestion for us".  Let's ตามด้วยคำกิริยารูปธรรมดา ซึ่งมีรูปปฏิเสธ คือ "Let's +S+not+กิริยาธรรมดา" โดย "Let's" มีความหมายในเชิงว่า ฉันมีคำแนะนำ หรือ การนำเสนอ สำหรับเรา 

 

Here are some examples:

 

Let's go to a movie. = เราไปดูหนังกันเถอะ

Let's not go to a movie. = เราอย่าไปดูหนังกันเลย 

Let's stay home instead. = เราอยู่บ้านแทนก็แล้วกัน 

As you can see, using "let's" does not make the sentence into a question. You are telling someone that this is what you want to do with them. จากตัวอย่างการใช้ "Let's" ไม่ได้ทำให้เป็นประโยชน์คำถาม คุณใช้เพื่อบอกใครบ้างคนว่านี้เป็นสิ่งที่คุณต้องการทำร่วมกับเขา 

 

Next, we can use "Why don't we..." to make usggestions. "Why don't" is usually used in spoken English to make a friendly suggestion. เราสามารถใช้คำว่า "Why don't we.." เพื่อที่จะแนะนำ ปกติแล้ว Why don't จะใช้ภาษาพูด เพื่อที่จะใช้ในการให้คำแนะนำที่เป็นมิตร หรือ เป็นกันเอง 

 

Here are some examples: 

 

Why don't we go to the temple? 

ทำไมเราไม่ไปวัดกันล่ะ?

Why don't you come over around seven?

ทำไมคุณไม่มาประมาณ 7 โมงล่ะ?

Why don't we go to the Meditation Hall?

ทำไมเราไม่ไปที่ศาลาปฏิบัติธรรมกันล่ะ?

We also can use "What about / How about.... + Verb ing" to make a suggestion. เราสามารถใช้คำว่า "What about / How about" ตามด้วย "Verb + ing" เพื่อใช้ให้คำแนะนำได้ด้วยเช่นกัน ซึ่ง What about หมายถึง แล้ว..(สิ่งที่เราแนะนำ)...ล่ะ  ส่วนคำว่า How about หมายถึง แล้ว...(สิ่งที่เราแนะนำ)... เป็นอย่างไร?

Here are some examples: 

 

What about going to the restaurant tonight? 

แล้วการไปร้านอาหารกันคืนนี้ล่ะ?

How about going to the restaurant tonight? 

แล้วการไปร้านอาหารคืนนี้ล่ะเป็นอย่างไร ? 

Or we can use "Could" for example; 

 

We could visit Paris next week. = เราควรจะไปปารีสอาทิตย์หน้า 

 

Couldn't we invite your grandmother to our party? 

เราจะไม่เชิญคุณยายของคุณมางานเลี้ยงของเราใช่มั้ย?

Alos, we can use "Don't you think..." to make a suggestion such as; นอกจากนี้เราสามารถใช้คำว่า "Don't you think..."

 

Don't you think it is a good idea to watch TV? 

คุณไม่คิดว่ามันเป็นความคิดที่ดีที่จะดูทีวีเหรอ?

The last word for today is "Shall", which is used in the same way, and means the same thing. Using shall is a polite way to speak. Here are some examples of using "shall". คำสุดท้ายของวันนี้ คำว่า "Shall" ซึ่งถูกใช้ในทางเดียวกัน และหมายถึงอย่างเดี่ยวกัน ดังตัวอย่างการใช้

Shall I open the window?

ฉันควรจะเปิดหน้าต่างไหม?

Shall we leave at two? 

เราควรจะออกไปสัก 2 โมงไหม?

Let's go, shall we?

เราไปกันดีไหม?

If you would like to accept a suggestion you can say; 

 

Yes, I'd like to. 

ได้ฉันอยากจะทำอย่างนั้น 

Yes, I'd love to.

ได้ฉันชอบที่จะทำอย่างนั้นมาก

What a good idea!

มันเป็นความคิดที่ดีอะไรอย่างนี้

Yes, with pleasure. 

ได้เลย ด้วยความยินดี 

That sounds like a good idea. 

นั้นฟังแล้วเป็นความคิดที่ดี

However, if you would like to refuse a suffestion here are some ecamples; 

No, let's not. 

ไม่...เราอย่าทำเลย

No, I'd rather not. 

ไม่...ฉันไม่ทำดีกว่า

I don't feel like it. 

ฉันไม่รู้สึกชอบมันเลย

What an awful idea!

อะไรมันจะเป็นความคิดที่เลวร้ายอย่างนี้

Bad idea! 

เป็นความคิดที่แย่นะ

All of these are very useful for making suggestions. Just remember that "Let's" we can use often and "Why don't" or "Shall we" are more polite ways of asking a person if they want to do the same thing as you do, then you will have no problem making suggestions. ทั้งหมดนี้มีประโยชน์มากๆ สำหรับการให้คำแนะนำหรือการนำเสนอ แค่จำไว้ว่า "Let's" ใช้ได้บ่อยๆ และ "Why don't" or "Shall we" เป็นวิธีที่สุภาพ มากกว่าในการถาม ถ้าเค้าต้องการทำในสิ่งที่เราต้องการทำเหมือนกัน แค่นี้ก็จะไม่มีปัญหาในการนำเสนอหรือให้คำแนะนำค่ะ 

ตัวอย่าง 

 

Aj.Shon: Star! Today is Friday, I've been thinking about what we should od on this weekend?

Star: Um...Let's go to a movie. 

Aj.Shon: Oh No!...Let's not go to a movie. There is nothing interesting playing now. 

Star: What about going to the restaurant tonight?

Aj.Shon: Oh...I don't feel lile it. 

Star:Don't you think it is a good idea to watch TV?

Aj.Shon: What an awful idea!

Star: Why don't we go to the temple?

Aj.Shon: That sounds like a good idea. 

Star: Shall we meet at the temple at 8.30 am. on Sunday?

Aj.Shon: Yes, I'd love to. 

 

Today we've learned a lot of vocabulary about "Making Suggestions" as well as other useful words. for examle;

 

Suggestion = การนำเสนอ การแนะนำ

Contraction = คำย่อ

With Pleasure = ด้วยความยินดี

Good Idea = เป็นความคิดที่ดี
