We all know that killing or any action that leads to killing violates the first precept of the five. Since vegetables also have lives (correct if I'm wrong), so does picking them considered destroying lives? If not, why? Thank you in advance for all your contributions. Answers in Thai are also appreciated.
Why is it alright to pick vegetables (as opposed to killing animals)?

You are correct to say that vegetables and trees have live. But in reality, in this world has living things divided into 2 categories, life with heart (mind) and life without heart (mind). Living things with heart are humans and animals. They are able to move and decide by them self. Their living is made by themselves to do activities and depending on other lives (Unable to create themselves a food). The living without heart are such as trees and vegetables, can not move themselves but they have lives. Killing or harming any living with no hearts is not considered as a sin.
The 1st precept consideration of breaking are the followings.
1. That living has life with heart.
2. Aimful to kill that living
3. Action of killing is made
4. That living die.
