นายอำนาจ บัวศิริ ผู้อำนวยการสำนักเลขาธิการมหาเถรสมาคม สำนักงานพระพุทธศาสนาแห่งชาติ เปิดเผยว่า ขณะนี้ประชาคมชาว Facebook ร้องเรียนเกี่ยวกับการใช้ Facebook เป็นแหล่งสื่อสารข้อมูลไม่เหมาะสมของพระภิกษุ ที่มีการนำข้อมูลแสดงความคิดเห็นตอบโต้กันผ่านเว็บไซต์ alittlebuddha.com จำนวนมาก ซึ่งเห็นว่า การที่พระสงฆ์จะใช้ Facebook เป็นช่องทางในการเผยแผ่พระพุทธศาสนาเป็นเรื่องที่ทำได้และไม่ผิด แต่หากใช้คุยเรื่องส่วนตัวและมีการส่งรูปภาพหรือข้อความต่างๆ ที่ไม่เหมาะสม ถือว่าไม่ถูกต้อง ซึ่งที่ผ่านมาพระธรรมวินัย หรือระเบียบมหาเถรสมาคม ไม่ได้มีข้อกำหนดเกี่ยวกับการห้ามพระสงฆ์เล่นอินเทอร์เน็ต หรือการใช้ช่องทางสื่อสารดังกล่าว อย่างไรก็ตาม จะนำเรื่องนี้เสนอเข้าสู่ที่ประชุมคณะอนุกรรมาธิการศาสนา คุณธรรม จริยธรรม ศิลปะและวัฒนธรรม วุฒิสภา และสำนักงานพระพุทธศาสนาแห่งชาติ เพื่อหามาตรการแก้ไข
