Learn at DOU for Yourself, for Society, and for our World
Complied from Inner Dreams Kindergarten School

The commencement ceremony at Dhammakaya Open University (DOU) at California was finished beautifully on Thursday July 31, 2011. During the afternoon of that day, every pairs of eyes of the Thai nationals, foreigners, angels in the celestial realms were laid upon the newly graduates with admiration and rejoice in their merit. Every sacred ceremony had passed by peacefully and prosperously, which drew in much admiration from the audience. On that day, the newly graduates from DOU were able to see the smile of happiness appeared on Phrarajbhavanavisudh, Luang Phaw Dhammajayo’s face. His smile caused the newly DOU graduates to become very proud of themselves. Today, we have two examples of the newly graduates from DOU who has written to Luang Phaw Dhammajayo.

I pay the highest respect to the Most Ven. Phrarajbhavanavisudh, Luang Phaw Dhammajayo

Yesterday, I was very glad to receive my DOU bachelor degree certification of completion from Luang Phaw Dhammajayo. I would like to tell you about my past history. I was the few of the lucky ones that have made merits with the great masters from the very beginning. This included having practiced meditation at the Master Nun Chandra Khonnokyoong’s first meditation center, having attended the Most Ven.  Phrarajbhavanavisudh (Luang Phaw Dhammajayo)’s ordination ceremony and having dug up the first rock to build Dhammakaya Temple. I knew about the DOU ever since the program was started. At that time, I thought that DOU was more suitable for young adults so I didn’t apply for it until I saw the graduates at the commencement ceremony in September, 2008. When I saw the graduates, I felt admiration for their successes in their study programs at DOU created by Luang Phaw. Therefore, I felt encouraged to become part of Luang Phaw’s successes as well so I decided to register for study programs at DOU when I was already 76 years old. Moreover, I also made a wish that I will finish DOU bachelor degree before turning 80 years old. Therefore, I have registered at the maximum credits allowed by the university for each term. The end results were that I was able to graduate from DOU within two years and seven months.

Education at DOU reminds me of the Lord Buddha’s qualities such as becoming known as the knowledge one, the purified one and the kind one. The qualities of Buddhism are so enormous that all cannot be named. Therefore, Buddhists should preserve these qualities so it can be salute and respect with humanity forever. I would like to share my successes as a graduate with Luang Phaw Dhammajayo.

I pay the highest respect to the Most Ven. Phrarajbhavanavisudh, Luang Phaw Dhammajayo.

My name is Phra Pinit Katitiewnano. I have graduated from bachelor degree from Mahamakut Buddhist University Isan Campus, faculty of Buddhism, majoring in Affairs of Buddhism management at Ubon Ratchathani province. I also got the first grade of Doctrine–knower.  Currently, I am an abbot at Siboonruang Temple at Ubon Ratchathani province. I’ve also register for DOU with the vice–abbot and five other monks. My favorite subject is meditation. This was because in the meditation subject, I have a chance to study about my own inner beings. On July 31st, 2011, I received my DOU bachelor degree certification of completion from Luang Phaw Dhammajayo. I felt very happy and honored at the same time. I would like to bow and pay the highest respect to Luang Phaw for his kindness of offering scholarships to monks and novices worldwide, so they can study at DOU without wasting their own money.

Even though I am already a graduate of DOU, but I think that I will continue studying for more knowledge from DOU because it is beneficial. Moreover, I will use the knowledge I have attain from DOU to teach the novices and teach other Buddhists that travel to make merit at the temple. The reason I would like to ordain is because I would like to continuously make merit and renewed Buddhism so it would become prosperous in Thailand and in the world once again. Moreover, I will follow Luang Phaw Dhammajayo’s footpath and continue to make merit until I reach nirvana.

I pay the highest respect to the Most Ven. Phrarajbhavanavisudh, Luang Phaw Dhammajayo.

Although all of the DOU graduates has already receive their DOU bachelor degree certification of completion, but the study of life lessons must continue. Graduates from DOU are determined to lead their life on the new found knowledge, and to use their new found knowledge to help renew Buddhism teachings. In addition, Dhammakaya Open University California (DOU) has done a very good job at producing high-quality and virtuous gradates for this world so that everyone will be ready to Change the World and spread Buddhism teachings to both new and old generations.
