The Lantern Lighting Ceremony for Worshipping the Lord Buddha at Buddha Monthon

Lots of Buddhists lit lanterns together to worship the Lord Buddha and prayed Rattana Sutra chanting in the 3rd Dhammachai Dhutanga Project.

In the evening on January 22st, 2014, Mr. Apinan Juntarungsri, Director General the Government Public Relations Department, was the President of the ceremonies of lighting lanterns to worship the Lord Buddha and praying Rattana Sutra chanting in the 3rd Dhammachai Dhutanga along the Way of the Most Ven. Phramongkolthepmuni (Sod Candasaro), the Mara Conqueror, at the front court in front of Phra Si Sakkaya Thotsaphonlayan Prathan Phutthamonthon Suthat in Buddha Monthon district, Nakhon Pathom province.  Monks across Thailand cooperated with Office of National Buddhism, government sector, academic institutes, private sector and organizations, foundations, associations, and societies to arrange it.  There are 1,129 monks around Thailand participating in this project and they are walking through 7 provinces which are Ayutthaya, Suphan Buri, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakorn, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, and Bangkok.  The total distance is 459 kilometers.  This is to give students and people an opportunity to welcome the roaming monks and purify the mind to revive morality, be freed from danger and obstacles, and be given auspiciousness and will power. This activity will also motivate the students and people to take part of social activities to elevate their spirits and minds with morality, revive the Buddhist culture in houses, temples and schools sustainably, teach them to be humble according to the Dhamma principle “Apacayana-maya” by which Thai societies will become peaceful and long-lasting due to Lord Buddha’s Dhamma Power.
