The Main Buddha Image Celebration at Dhammakaya Bavaria Temple

 

 The Most Ven. Phrabhavanaviriyakhun, the vice abbot of Dhammakaya Temple, traveled from Thailand to fill the Lord Buddha’s relics in the lotus-bud-like highest part of the Main Buddha Image

 

 Over 1,000 participants from many countries in Europe went to Koenigsbrunn city

Buddhists went to invite the big Main Buddha Image in the sacred ceremony.  The vice abbot of Dhammakaya Temple in Thailand and the president of all branches traveled from Thailand to participate in this ceremony.  There were over 1,000 participants from all over Europe in this ceremony.

 Dhammakaya Bavaria Temple has been established since fall 2007.  This place was a sport club (a tennis court).

The Lantern Lighting Ceremony

Even though it was the Christmas Holidays, there was a lantern lighting ceremony at the industrial zone at the South of Koenigsbrunn city and this ceremony did not concern with the Christmas at all.  At a branch of Dhammakaya Temple named Dhammakaya Bavaria Temple which has been established since 2007, the Most Ven. Phrabhavanaviriyakhun, the vice abbot of Dhammakaya Temple in Thailand, who has a lot of disciples in Thailand and has established 21 temples in 10 countries in Europe for being the merit-making places for Thai people in Europe, had traveled from Thailand and kindly accepted to be the president of the ceremony of inviting the Main Buddha Image.  There were over 1,000 congregations and monks from all branches of Dhammakaya Temple in Europe joining this ceremony in Koenigsbrunn city.  Dhammakaya Temple has a plan to establish the additional 20 Main Buddha Images at the other branches in Europe as well.

 Over 1,000 congregations and monks from all branches of Dhammakaya Temple in Europe participated in this event.

The lotus-bud-like top part of the Main Buddha Image was filled with the Lord Buddha’s relics.

The Most Ven. Phrabhavanaviriyakhun unveiled that he had left Dhammakaya Temple in Thailand to be the monastic president in this ceremony, he and his congregations chanted and meditated together. While the ceremony of establishing the lotus-bud-like highest part of the Main Buddha Image, he brought it with the Lord Buddha’s relics inside to place on the head of the Main Buddha Image and said that the Lord Buddha has been established in this temple from then on.

 The congregations lit the lanterns together which meant that the light within their bodies would shine to make them happy

Finally, over 1,000 congregations lit the lanterns together which meant the inner light at their bodies would shine to make them happy, intelligent and enlightened.  The brightness will get rid of the darkness of ignorance. When the first lantern was lit and the fire was sent to light the other ones, this was the symbol of the light of inner attainment which was transferred from the Lord Buddha’s Dhamma and expanded limitlessly. All ceremonies were in Thai and then were translated into German by Phrasomkiat Kittikhuno, the monk from Dhammakaya Bavaria Temple.
