The Most Ven. Somdej Phramaharajmangalajarn was the Monastic President

At the court around Phrasrisakkayatossaphonyan Statue, the Main Buddha statue of Buddhamonthon in Nakhon Pathom province, there was the chanting ceremony to humbly dedicate merit to King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit since Asalha Puja Day 2013.  The Most Ven. Somdej Phramaharajmangalajarn, member of Acting Supreme Patriarch of Thailand and abbot of Watpaknam Bhasicharoen, was the Monastic President and Mr. Pongthep Thepkanchana, Vice PM, was the Laity President.


Over 500 monks participated in this ceremony

Over 500 monks from the 1st, 2nd, 14th and 15th Ecclesiastical Regions, Bangkok and Samut Prakarn province participated in this ceremony.  Mr. Nopparat Benjawatananun, Director General of Office of National Buddhism, as well as the Office of National Buddhism’s management and staffs, people, students and Buddhist temple schools attended in the ceremony too.


Activities

Moreover, there were the Buddhist exhibition, circumambulation, Dhamma teaching, and Buddhist Lent candle making.  The Buddhist temple schools arranged many activities to spread Buddhism such as the chanting contest, the Thai etiquette contest, the speech contest, the Buddhist Lent Candle Contest and Invitation.
