ยาวชีวมฺปิ เจ พาโล

ปณฺฑิตํ ปฏิรุปาสติ

น โส ธมฺมํ วิชานาติ

ทพฺพิ สูปรสํ ยถา

ถึงจะอยู่ใกล้บัณฑิต
เป็นเวลานานชั่วชีวิต
คนโง่ก็หารู้พระธรรมไม่
เหมือนจวักไม่รู้รสแกง


Though through all his life
A fool associates with a wise man,
He yet understands not the Dharma,
As the spoon the flavour of soup.
