ครั้นหนึ่งเมื่อพระพุทธเจ้าประทับอยู่ ณ พระเวฬุวันมหาวิหาร ราษฎรใกล้ไกลล้วนศรัทธาพระพุทธศาสนาหลั่งไหลหารมาฟังธรรมเจริญภาวนาอยู่ไม่ว่างเว้น พระเทวีทั้ง 500 นางของพระเจ้ากรุงโกศลเองก็เช่นกัน แม้จะไม่ได้ออกมานั่งฟังธรรมอย่างคนอื่นๆได้ แต่ก็ได้นิมนต์พระอานนท์ไปเทศนาธรรมที่ในวัง เมื่อพระเทวีฟังธรรมจากพระอานนท์จบแล้วก็เกิดความเลื่อมใสถวายผ้าสาดกที่ได้รับมารวมทั้งหมด 500 ผืน
ความเป็นมนุษย์ หาได้ยาก ความเกิดขึ้นของพระพุทธเจ้าหาได้ยาก ความถึงพร้อมด้วยขณะสมัย หาได้ยาก พระสัทธรรม หาได้ยากอย่างยิ่ง ความถึงพร้อมด้วยศรัทธา หาได้ยาก การบวช หาได้ยาก การฟังพระสัทธรรม หาได้ยาก
