ทรงดำริพลาง มีพระดำรัสถามว่า “พ่อมโหสถ เธอจำกิ้งก่าตัวนี้ได้ไหมเล่า” “จำได้อย่างแน่นอนพระเจ้าข้า” มโหสถทูลตอบ “เธอดูซิ ประหลาดไหมเล่า เจ้ากิ้งก่าตัวนี้ เมื่อก่อนพอมันเห็นเรา ก็วิ่งลงมาซบแทบพื้นดิน ครั้งนั้นเธอเคยบอกเราว่ามันแสดงความเคารพเรา แต่มาวันนี้ ทำไมดูมันช่างกระด้างกระเดื่องเช่นนั้น เธอทราบหรือไม่ว่า เพราะเหตุอันใด มันจึงยังคงเกาะนิ่ง เชิดหัวชูคออยู่เช่นนั้น”
มาถึงตรงนี้ หลายท่านอาจนึกแคลงใจว่า ธรรมดาพระโพธิสัตว์ย่อมจะรู้อุปการะคุณของบิดามารดา มีความเคารพในบิดามารดาอย่างยิ่งมิใช่หรือ เมื่อเป็นดังนี้ การที่มโหสถบัณฑิตนั่งในที่สูงกว่าบิดา และกราบทูลพระราชาเช่นนั้น จะถือว่าเป็นดูหมิ่นบิดาของตนหรือไม่
What demerit caused her mother to be paralyzed, have diabetes, and have both her legs amputated? Did letting her hair grow long and requesting to have a longer life at the Phra Gan Shrine enable her to live for another 10 years? What demerit caused her father to have bleeding in his digestive system and die?
The present society is facing increased problems of children lacking gratitude for their parents. Do you have any recommendations in teaching our children to become good and grateful people?
You once taught us that having gratitude generates wisdom. I would like to ask how wisdom occurs.
In Thai tradition, on important days like New Year’s Day, or other auspicious days, younger generations always pay respect and ask for blessings from their elders. I’d like to ask Luang Phaw the importance of blessings, and how one bestows blessings.
If military personnel has the opportunity to ordain as a monk, what appropriate topics of the Buddhist teachings should they be taught? And what kinds of merit will those who sponsor the ordination ceremony gain?
