The Computerization of the Buddhist Pali Canon began in 1984 by the Dhammakaya Foundation to improve access for scholars worldwide. Utilizing the Romanized Pali Canon Text, the project produced a database released as a CD-ROM in 1995, developed with guidance from 51 experts across 14 nations. This initiative received significant media attention and interest from the Thai Royal Family. As a result, it has attracted numerous scholars focusing on Buddhist studies. The project also led to the creation of the world's first Pali language computer 'Driver'. The ongoing work includes digitization and critical studies of Theravada commentaries, eagerly awaited by the global academic community. Visit dmc.tv for more insights.
