"We should always think about the last person's world. All of these people were plant-
ing trees at the same time: They were all doing the same actions, but they all wanted
something different and achieved different boon because of their wishes. For teachers,
the effort to teach is the boon. The teachers are the Arahants of the house."
Luang Por ends the conference with this thought:
"Ask yourself this question: How many of your own teachers from years past do you
now hold in your heart? What made them a great teacher for you? Think about those
qualities and try to emulate them in your own teaching.
"And ask this: In twenty years, would you be willing to bow down to the very people
you are teaching right now? How will you prepare your students for their leadership
roles in the future?
"The real learning in education comes from a reflection of the self. If you love yourself,
you will send that out into the six directions. Ultimately, you must remember Attā hi
attano nātho attā hi attano gati: You are your own refuge, you make your own future.
You must help your students understand their future."
