สรุปเนื้อหา

This study examines the significant influence of the Lokappadīpakāsāra, a 14th-century text, on two later Pāli texts: the Cakkavaḷadīpaṇi and Lokaśaṅṭhānājotaratanagaṇṭhī, both dating from the 16th to 18th centuries. The paper reveals that a majority of quotations in these later texts are derived from the Lokappadīpakāsāra, especially from its seventh chapter concerning cosmology. The author's deliberate choice to reference the Lokappadīpakāsāra, despite acknowledging alternatives, underscores its authoritative presence in shaping Pāli cosmological discourse. The structural parallels between the texts further emphasize the importance of the Lokappadīpakāsāra in the evolution of Pāli literature and religious thought. For further details, visit dmc.tv.

Abstract: **Influence of Lokappadīpakāsāra** on the Pāli Buddhism in Later Period: Based on Quotations of the *Lokappadīpakāsāra* in the *Cakkavaḷadīpaṇi* and *Lokaśaṅṭhānājotaratanagaṇṭhī* by Phramaha Chatpong KATAPUNYO The present paper is the study of the influence of the *Lokappadīpakāsāra* (14th century) on the *Cakkavaḷadīpaṇi* (1520) and the *Lokaśaṅṭhānājotaratanagaṇṭhī* (1520-1747), two Pāli texts of a later period which mention cosmology. In both texts, the fact that the largest number of the quotations are from the *Lokappadīpakāsāra* gives us evidence that the *Lokappadīpakāsāra* had a great influence on them. That is also confirmed by the intention of the author of the *Cakkavaḷadīpaṇi* to have used quotations from the *Lokappadīpakāsāra* in spite of knowing the existence of 16 quotations from other texts. Among the quotations in both texts from the *Lokappadīpakāsāra*, the largest number of those is from the seventh chapter “The explanation of the cosmos” (*Okāsalokanidessa*). It is also obvious that the structure of the *Cakkavaḷadīpaṇi* follows the model of the seventh chapter in the *Lokappadīpakāsāra*. This shows us that the importance of the *Lokappadīpakāsāra*, especially its seventh chapter.
