Afternoon activity Afternoon activity involves recreational activities which all at YUWA CAMP, instructors, mentors and Yuwakalayanamitra alike, take delight in doing. Practicing meditation Yuwakalayanamitra sometimes practice meditation in the meditation room and sometimes in the open space surrounded by nature, and sometimes in large and sometimes in small groups. Changes are meant to help them achieve greater effectiveness in meditation. . Stations Yuwakalayanamitra are taught by mentors about merit-receiving, the activity which involves merits-making through doing publicly useful work. The learning includes lecture, demonstration and actual doing and it includes 4 stations namely; Camp facility-cleaning: Yuwakalayanamitra clean ceiling, wall and floor of the camp facility (from top to bottom) by sweeping first and then rubbing. They also make their own bed and are supposed to do so when get back home. Heaven (toilet)-cleaning: Yuwakalayanamitra rub toilet floor, clean pails and toilet bowl. The slogan is “the harder we rub, the cleaner and brighter the stuff become”. Canteen-cleaning: Yuwakalayanamitra sweep and rub canteen floor, clean dining tables and chairs and wash dishes. Meditation room-cleaning: Yuwakalayanamitra clean, vacuum-clean the meditation room and clean and arrange the table set for doing obeisance to the Buddha’s images. They, moreover, learn from mentors the meditation room manners (i.e. not running errands or making loud noise in the room, doing obeisance to Buddha’s images, senior priests, priests and those older than them with great respect etc.)
