Chapter 24
Gambling Never Made Anyone Rich
Even before the first whistle in a soccer match is blown, borrowed money, salaries, school tuition and the allowances of many people, have already been placed on bets at the gambling table. This is a typical scenario that occurs outside of the soccer field, and it has tremendous effects on the whole family.
It is estimated that, on a typical day, the money circulating for bets on a football game is over several million. This is an extremely high figure for a developing country like Thailand.
The bookies brimm with joy when they see the figures and how much money they will collect. However, for those who work at an honest living, this way of life is considered to be cold blooded because the bookies are making money from people who do not know how to utilize their money.
