Some liquor-producing factories in Thailand voluntarily shut down their operations to show support for this cause. Several bars, night clubs, brothels and gambling houses voluntarily closed down their operations. Many restaurants and retail stores agreed to stop selling liquor and cigarettes. The success of his campaigns earned Luang Por a distinguished award from the UN World Health Organization. - Initiating nationwide alms offering for two million monks throughout Thailand.
