J. uly 13, 1989 was the most memorable day of my life. On that day about ninety Dhammadāyādas from Wat Phra Dhammakaya were ordained at the Marble Temple or Wat Benjamabopit Dusitvanaram, one of the most beautiful temples in Bangkok. It was my great pleasure to be invited, as a visiting monk, to observe the mass ordination ceremony there. I had been looking forward to the day and I got up very early that morning and left Wat Phra Dham- makaya on a bus, together with the Dhammadāyādas for the Marble Temple. As soon as the bus moved, they started to recite the morning chanting. The sound of the chanting charmed me so much that I felt very "at case". It took us about an hour to get to the Marble temple. I became alert and was much impressed not only by the beauty of the Temple but also the Thai ordination ceremony was something new in my life. which The ceremony began with all Dhammadāyādas processing around the chapel three times. They then entered the cloister where they were to beg the forgiveness of their parents for past trespasses. Next, all the pa- rents offered the ordinands their saffron robes. I saw most of the Dhammadāyāda shed tears of joy adding to my own. However, it made me feel proud of my monkhood. Afterwards, all Dhamma- dāyādas got into the Uposatha Hall to ask the Upajjhāya's permission to be ordained as novices. The morning ceremony ended when all the Dhammadāyādas had already been ordained as novices. All of them had to ask permission to be ordained as monks in the afternoon ceremony.
