the technique taught by his anusavañācārya, Phra Acharn Nong. On the quarter-moon days, when he was free from Scriptural study, he travelled to different temples renowned for their meditation teachers. He studied with Phasangavaranuwongse (Phra Acharn Eam) of Wat Rajasiddharam, Bangkok; Phra Kru Nyanavirat (Po) of Wat Phra Chetupon, Bangkok; Phra Acharn Singh, Wat Lakorn Thaam (behind Wat Rakhangkositaram), Thonburi; Phramonkolthipmuni (Muy) the abbot of Wat Chakrawat, Bangkok, and; Phra Acharn Pleum of Wat Kao Yai, Thamaka district, Kanchanaburi. All these famous masters were regarded as the foremost of their time in Buddhist meditation. As a result of their level of discipline, all had multitudinous students. Candasaro completed the teachings of all these masters within an exceptionally short period of time. "Venerable sir, is there anything else I should know?" This question was frequently raised by Candasaro at the end of his masters' discourses. All too often the master would answer, "I cannot teach you anything further. You are now my equal. Come and teach alongside me!" Phra Kru Nyanavirrat and Phra Acharn Singh both testified to Candasaro's attainment and elected him to teach. Candasaro was dissatisfied however, with his own level of knowledge. He thought, "My knowledge is too superficial to qualify me as a meditation master." He humbly refused to teach anyone. He left his old teachers to travel alone, searching for more knowledge—going anywhere in Thailand where there was a reputable master.
