ing of all his disciples. He announced that he had only five more years left to live. He appealed to all to continue to persevere with the activities he had set in motion. He said that before long the temple would be enlarged, even though he would no longer be present. His disciples pleaded for him to stay on longer, but he said that he must surely die. Everyone present immediately knew how concerned Luang Phaw was for the welfare of the tradition to have publicly appealed to his disciples to take responsibility for the work—especially for perpetuating and spreading the Dhammakāya tradition. In the meantime in about 1954, the first television broadcast was made in Thailand. The event was one of national importance, so one of the disciples of Wat Paknam put a television on his shoulder and brought the new invention to the temple for Luang Phaw to see—so that the monks at the temple could keep up with the times. The evening’s programming had both news and entertainment. Luang Phaw Wat Paknam had the ability to see the danger even in the slightest phenomena. As soon as Luang Phaw saw the show he slapped his knee and shouted, “Evil genius!” At that time the congregation was just thinking what a favor they had done the monks and the monks were excited over the new device. They turned to ask Luang Phaw what was wrong with the television—when even the government supported it.
