centre of the centre for seven days and seven nights without turning back. You will discover unspeakable happiness!”
The happiness of meditation was an achievement all people could share. Luang Phaw took the responsibility for teaching all-comers the Way to Dhammakāya. The news of his activities spread to Somdej Phra Wanarat. One day the Somdej called him to task, saying, “Don’t be crazy, old fellow! Don’t you know that nowadays there are no more arahants in the world? Better come along and help us to administer the Sangha!”
Luang Phaw knew that his old teacher wished him well — but the Dhamma of Vijja Dhammakāya was profound, and if one did not perceive its profundity it was only natural to be without faith. Thus he listened to the Somdej’s criticism with respect — but back in the privacy of his own temple continued practising and teaching high level meditation. This brought him into great disavour with the Somdej.
When the Somdej grew older and fell ill, however, Luang Phaw looked after him well, sending food and bird’s nest soup for His Excellency by water taxi at four every morning. Furthermore, he dispatched some of his disciples to cure him by meditation techniques. It was only then that the Somdej saw the worth of reading Luang Phaw’s sermons on Dhammakāya meditation, which had been compiled and published by layfolk. In his study of this meditation he was assisted by advice from Luang Phaw himself. As a result, the Somdej began to accept the Dhammakāya tradition and offered to help Luang Phaw in his work.
