Amongst his meditation experiences, at Wat Rajasiddharn, Candasaro managed to perceive a bright and lucent sphere, the size of the yolk of an egg, right in the centre of his diaphragm—demonstrating that elements of the path of practice he was later to pursue and develop were still present in fragmentary form in the meditation tradition of ancient Siam.
His travels took him to his old temple of Wat Songpinong. In those days the elder monks never paid much attention to study. The younger monks who were interested in studying, without any help from the elders, didn't know where to begin. Usually those interested in studying would be sent to Bangkok. Thus when Candasaro went to stay at Wat Songpinong in his eleventh year of monkhood he was the prime mover in establishing a school, in spite of many obstacles — a school which still exists today under the foundation he set up.
While Candasaro was at Wat Songpinong he recalled the bundle of Mahāsatipatthāna Sutta scriptures he had concealed since his ordination. He realized, in his eleventh year of monkhood, that he had reached the benchmark he had set for himself in Pali studies. He was now able to translate that bundle fluently—and in accordance with his original intention, would discontinue his Pali studies and undertake the task of studying meditation in earnest...
