"That’s good. Now close your eyes and visualize the image of that tuft of hair at the centre of your body, two finger-breadths above your navel. Sink it down right in the centre there, in the cross-section between an imaginary cord strung between the right side and the left one and another strung between the front and back — right at the point of intersection there. Follow my instructions carefully."
The ordinand closed his eyes and did as he was told, but his doubts only continued to increase. Luang Phaw continued;
"Bring all your thoughts, imagination and memory down into the centre there, and observe carefully."
But all was dark as far as the ordinand was concerned. After all, what did Luang Phaw expect him to see with his eyes closed? Waiting to see what Luang Phaw’s purpose was, the ordinand meditated still kneeling stiffly before Luang Phaw. Nevertheless, he persisted. Luang Phaw asked whether he could see anything yet in his meditation. The ordinand hastily replied that he could see nothing.
Luang Phaw told him:
"Bring your thoughts to a standstill. Visualize that tuft of hair. Let the image arise at the centre of the intersection. See the visualization and maintain it in mind. Do as I tell you and you will attain vision."
