cies about the temple. He said that Wat Paknam would become very popular and there would be many new students coming to join the congregation. He ordered the nuns not to cremate his body but rather to embalm it. His corpse would continue to ensure the prosperity of the temple — 'nurturing' those who lived on by attracting pilgrims to visit Wat Paknam and pay homage. Instructions for meditation would be received from a tape recording of his voice in the chamber where his body lay. All these pilgrims would thus continue to make donations for the prosperity of the temple.
As Luang Phaw's health faltered, he no longer had the strength to train the newest workshop meditators or lead meditation sessions. One day Luang Phaw called Kuhn Yay Chandra and ordered:
"Don’t be in a hurry to die! Don’t give up the teaching life for the seclusion of the forests! After my passing the others will have to rely on you to teach Vijja Dhamma kaya and keep them on the straight and narrow path. If you don’t teach them, they will fall victim to the work of the Mara."
Without Luang Phaw’s involvement, the emphasis of the temple tended to swing further and further in the direction of academic studies and the core of meditating adepts fled the temple to carry on their meditation elsewhere. Luang Phaw’s last words were:
"Carry on doing the work as if I were alive. Never stop meditating. Keep doing good and continue to support the monks."
