still. The best means for mental
training is the so-called Bhāvanā or
meditation.
Following Dhammakāya medi-
tation, we train ourselves to visualize
a crystal ball at our centre of gravity.
This is our tactic to keep our mind
one-pointed and firm. Concentrating
at the centre is the only method of
purifying our mind which will result
in the successive attainment of
Peace of mind, Happiness, Wisdom,
and Ultimate Reality in proportion
to the degree of purification of the
mind.
Hulda described how she has
profoundly realized the benefits of
meditation gained through her
experiences;
"When I practise meditation, I
am very happy the whole time. I
think I have to practise more be-
cause I really know its profit. Now
I can visualize a crystal ball.......but
for a short time. I think that I can't
do it properly yer! The crystal ball
isn't very clear.......sometimes I
can't maintain it. But I still per-
severe. Anyway, it makes me feel
very happy, calm, relaxed and
peaceful."

Meditation is
Helpful to Study
If we
are always absent-
minded, we shall never succeed at
anything we do. Concentration is
needed for all sorts of work; a
student with firm concentration
always does well in their study.
Hulda is already tactical about
making progress in her study. She
explained;
"Study requires concentration,
and the patience and ability to con-
centrate which we practise in medi-
tation must help my study. So I
must keep on meditating every
day."
