A WARM WELCOME
Each day he is allowed to meditate
all day long with a group of meditators
that are in some weeks, lay people, in
some weeks, Bhikkhu Sangha. The pro-
gress he has made in meditation and the
welcoming atmosphere in the temple
make him feel secure about his future.
He expressed,
"Wat Phra Dhammakaya and
the bhikkhus, novices and laypeople
who support the temple are very
warm, open and friendly. And I find
that the great faith and merit which
is present at the temple allows me the
chance to "open-up" and "step-into"
the meditation practice. And I am
very greateful to Luang Por Dhamma-
jayo to allow me to come here and
"Patipat Dhamma (pratice Dham-
ma)."
In addition, he hopes to be
granted to stay in Thailand for several
years or perhaps forever...

BUDDHISM IN ENGLAND
With regard to Buddhism in
England, Nicholas thinks that it is seen
by the average Englishman as an esoteric
and mystical religion practised by
monks. Only those people who are
willing to train themselves according
to Buddhist Vinaya (Code of Discipline)
realise that the Buddha's teaching is
immensly practical and starts from
exactly one stands here and now. It need
not be mystical. He thinks that it is not
generally easy for anyone to embrace the
Buddhist faith in a Neo-Christian country,
However, the interest in Buddhism is
increasing. So he hopes,
"If a way could be found to esta-
blish local centres in the West for Dham-
makaya practice, they would generate
much interest. However, they could not
be quite the same as Thai Centres if they
were to have the same popular appeal"
It takes a long time for a medi-
tator to be skillful in meditation. So
it would be very benefitial to Nicholas
to extend his stay at Wat Phra
Dhammakaya as long as possible. In
so doing, he will be able to gain lots
of experiences enough to be a respect-
able instructor on Buddhism as well
as a Kalyanamitta who will succeed
in convincing people of making
merit. And this performance is the
supreme duty of all human beings.
Thus, we-Kalyanamitta Magazine
extend the wish that there will be
nothing to prevent him from success
in attaining to Dhammakaya.
