Most Chinese people therefore, take chance to entertain themselves as much as possible. Surprisingly, for those with Chinese roots, two ladies and two gentlemen from Singapore decided instead, to fly to Thailand to celebrate their 'New Year-1989' by meditating at Wat Phra Dhammakaya. s. Tan Bee Lian is a 28 year
old Chinese Physician and Acupunctu-
rist. She has her own clinic in Singa-
pore. She practises meditation not

only for her own happiness but also
regards it as one of the best treat-
ments for her patients. When she
began to practise meditation, she had
the intention to teach her patients the
skill too, as soon as she, herself,
reaches a sufficient level of proficiency.
"In Singapore some of my pa-
tients are worried and upset. Some
have high levels of anxiety. I hope
that meditation practice can help
them to become relaxed and free
from suffering. So I'm happy to learn
to meditate here so that I can teach
my patients. And I'll promote this
temple in Singapore too, for those
who can afford to come to meditate
here."
