And the following is her ideas:- "I feel that in England or anywhere in the world we became accustomed to living in very comfortable, luxurious houses but they present a lot of distractions and are harder places to think about ourselves and how we live our lives. I think that in coming to a place like this we remove a lot of complications from our lives. The simple way of living makes it easier to think more clearly and logically." To practise eight precepts helps to concentrate the mind easily While staying at Wat Phra Dhammakaya, Rebecca also practised eight precepts as everybody *Klod is an umbrella with a mosquito net suspended over it and tucked in around edges under a mat so that the mosquito cannot get in and tucked in around edges under a mat so that the mosquito cannot get in. เธอก็ปฏิบัติกิจกรรมประจำวันทุกอย่างเหมือนอาสากัลยาณ มิตร นับตั้งแต่การอยู่กลด การสวดมนต์ ทำวัตรเช้า-เย็น การ ต้อนรับสาธุชนที่ไปทำบุญที่วัดในวันอาทิตย์ ตลอดจนถึงการ กวาดลานวัด - โดยเหตุที่เธอเป็นคนมีความอดทนสูง มีน้ำใจโอบอ้อม อารี มีเมตตากรุณาประจำใจ มีกิริยามารยาทเรียบร้อยมี ปฏิภาณไหวพริบดี แม้จะพูดภาษาไทยได้เพียงเล็กน้อย และ เหล่าอาสากัลยาณมิตรส่วนมากก็พูดภาษาอังกฤษได้อย่างงูๆ ปลา ๆ แต่ทั้งสองฝ่ายก็มีความเข้าใจกันเป็นอันดี อาสา กัลยาณมิตรทุกคนรักคุณรีเบคคา คุณรีเบคคาก็อยู่กับอาสาฯ อย่างมีความสุข สิ่งนี้ย่อมแสดงให้เห็นว่าถ้าคนเราทุกคนยึด มั่นปฏิบัติตามหลักธรรมขององค์พระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้าแล้ว เราจะอยู่ร่วมกันได้อย่างสันติสุข ชาติ ศาสนา ภาษา และ วัฒนธรรม มิได้เป็นอุปสรรคขวางกั้น เพราะเรามีภาษาใจ ที่ตรงกัน อยู่กลดหมดทุกข์แ เนื่องจาก คุณรีเบคคา เคยอยู่กับบ้านที่สุขสบาย ในประเทศอังกฤษ แต่ขณะที่พักอยู่ที่วัดพระธรรมกายเธอ ต้องนอนในกลด สำหรับเรื่องนี้เธอให้ทัศนะว่า “ดิฉันรู้สึกว่าในประเทศอังกฤษ หรือไม่ว่าที่ไหน ๆ ใน โลกคนเรามักจะชอบหรือติดนิสัยในการอยู่บ้านที่หรูหรา มี เครื่องอำนวยความสะดวกสบายสารพัด สิ่งเหล่านี้ล้วนแต่จะ ล่อให้เกิดความหลงยากที่จะคิดถึงตัวเราเองและการดำรง ชีวิตว่าจะอยู่อย่างไร ดิฉันคิดว่าการอยู่กลดเช่นนี้เราสามารถ ขจัดความยุ่งยากสับสนในชีวิตออกไปได้มากทีเดียว นอกจาก นี้การมีชีวิตอย่างเรียบง่ายเช่นนี้ ยังช่วยให้เราคิดและมอง สิ่งต่าง ๆ ได้ชัดขึ้น ง่ายขึ้น มีเหตุมีผลมากขึ้น” การรักษาศีล ๘ ช่วยให้ทำสมาธิ ได้ดีขึ้น ในระหว่างที่พักอยู่ที่วัดพระธรรมกาย คุณรีเบคคา ก็ ถือศีล ๘ เหมือนบรรดาอาสากัลยาณมิตร และอุบาสก อุบาสิกาอื่น ๆ โดยที่เธอไม่มีปัญหาเดือดร้อนแต่อย่างใด ทั้ง ๔๑ Kalyanamitra.org
