A: No, not at all. He tells the truth. Illness always
causes us a lot of sufferings,
B: who can avoid illness? Who can avoid old age,
death and sorrow? It's fact that none can avoid
sufferings.
Consequently, we can say that Buddhism is
neither pessimistic nor optimistic but realistic! This
is because Buddhism teaches us to realize that
as long as we run on in this cycle of existence
we can never avoid suffering.
realize (v) =
=
In fact, the Lord Buddha has not stated only
the truth of suffering but he has also painted
out that the greatest cause of suffering is
craving.
Later, He has taught how to remove
craving. When craving has already been
removed then suffering ends.
If we take the Four Noble Truths into
consideration, we can see that the central
concept of this discourse is the relationship
between cause and effect: the first two
Truths are the cause, while the rest are the
effect.
take....into consideration = พิจารณาอย่าง
relationship = ความสัมพันธ์
=
the rest (v) =
In conclusion, the idea of cause and effect
Is the real heart of Buddhism and it is at the
heart of the Four Noble Truths.
