the moral codes within Buddhism is quite
different from those within other religions.
This is because within some religions, their moral
codes have been handed down from God.
However, if we look closely at the Buddhist
Scriptures, we do find the principles that lie
behind the rules of morality are the principles of
equality and reciprocity.

A: What does it mean by the principle of equality?
B: Well, what equality means is that all living beings
are equal in their essential attitudes. That is all
want to live, to enjoy happiness and security,
All fear pain, death and suffering.
On the basis of this equality, we are encouraged
to act with the awareness of reciprocity.
A:

: What does it mean by reciprocity?
B: It means that just as we would not like to be
A:
killed, robbed, abused and so on, so also all
other living beings would not like to have
these things happen to them.
.: Oh, this is why Buddhism teaches us not to
swat mosquitoes.
B: Right. You get the point. No matter how small
amosquito or any other Insects are, they are
all living beings like us. That is, they have the
nature to take revenge on their enemies.
As a result, a meditator will be disturbed by
their own enemies while meditating.
