They saw all humans as equal and prayed for harmony and an end to the hostilities without bloodshed. Indeed, the standard blessing he gave to all who attended the temple was that all prosper, that the rice ripen in the fields, that the rain fall according to season and that men everywhere give up fighting amongst themselves. The most important contribution which Khun Yay was to make was to protect Thailand from the atomic bomb. At a time shortly before the end of the war, one member of the ‘workshop group’ had the vision while meditating of a new kind of weapon, a bomb, being built by the Allies to put an end to the war in Asia — and that the Allies were planning to use this weapon against Bangkok. Khun Yay was told to check what would happen if such a bomb should drop on Bangkok. She saw in meditation, that the whole of the city would be wiped out, razed to the ground. She told the Abbot that everybody would be killed and the city would be as flat as the skin of a drum. The Great Abbot then commanded the temple’s treasurer, a man of middle age, to take all the temple’s assets and get away from the temple — to go away as far from the city as he could in seven days. If the Abbot’s efforts met with success, the treasurer could return as if nothing had happened. The Abbot spoke of this matter with no-one else. The Abbot locked the doors of the workshop allowing no-one to enter or leave. Food and drink would be sent through the letter-box.
