He'd been waiting there since 7 p.m. but couldn't enter the house because all the doors were closed and the people inside had gone for meditation!
In the beginning, work at the temple went on all day and all night. Sometimes, because of weariness, there were quarrels amongst the workers. Khun Yay didn't attend the work meetings herself, but she would always be around, in the aisles, keenly observing the community as a whole. When she saw that the community couldn't settle a disagreement she would call the meeting to a close saying, "The meeting will probably drag on much longer - come and meditate with me instead. After a couple of hours of meditation, everyone's quality of mind would be elevated. Only then would she let them continue with the meeting. This time the meeting would always go much more smoothly. These are the management skills demonstrated by Khun Yay in spite of her lack of education. Whether it be management of people, places or assets, Khun Yay would show moderation in all things. Everything she did lacked excess. Unity arose naturally as a by-product of her presence.
In early 1970 Khun Phadet decisively took his lifelong vow of celibacy even though he could not yet ordain, still with a lot more construction work to oversee. Nevertheless, Khun Yay had advised him to take this vow because he had previously considered marriage, but had been brought to his senses by his father who chided him, "If you want to marry do so,
