eighty-acre area. This new kuti for Khun Yay’s was built on the 1000-acre plot of land between the Pariyatti Dhamma School and Meditation Village. The new kuti was built out of her disciples’ wish to accommodate Khun Yay as well as possible during her final years. The Dhammabarn Kuti was designed to accommodate Khun Yay during her old age by facilitating her daily life and activities. It comprised two single-storey concrete buildings connected by a sheltered walkway for exercise. The entrance had a ramp for wheelchair access. There is a parking space in front of the entrance. The kuti was surrounded by fence and a pond to maintain privacy. In front of the kuti was a pond with a flight of steps, so that Khun Yay could release or feed fish. There was a roadway all the way around the perimeter with gardens and a lawn around the kuti itself. The garden was filled with aromatic plants. Dhammabarn Kuti was close to monks and novices from the Pariyatti Dhamma School. Groups of monks and novices regularly passed by Khun Yay’s new kuti. Khun Yay could see them from her room or even give them alms. In 1996, Khun Yay’s exhaustion became more noticeable. Sometimes she looked as if she might pass out. She spent most of her time in the hospital during the year 1996-1997, especially from September to November 1997. She stayed overnight in hospital for physical check ups. Her visits to the hospital were not disclosed, so that she wouldn’t be exhausted by visitors.
