The leader must be aware of expenditure and income
themselves, of what work has been completed or which
remains to be done. They must criticise those worthy
of criticism and praise those worthy of praise.

Khun Yav was looking for a twenty-acre plot of
land to build a temple. One day, as Ven. Dham-
majayo was meditating, he saw a vast expanse of
paddy field close to the bank of a canal. He was
able to recognise the location of the land as be-
ing in Pathumthani province, and he found out
that it belonged to a very old landowner who
would be virtuous enough to consider parting
with the land for the purposes of the Dhamm-
aprasit group. Khun Yav delegated Khun Thawin
Watti-rangkul (then not yet ordained as a nun)
to go and negotiate with the owner, Lady Pray at
Paetyapongsa-visudhathibodee to see if they
would let the Dhammaprasit meditation group
buy the plot.
Quite by coincidence, when they met this old
lady it was her birthday — a day when she was
intending to do the biggest merit of her life. When
