Once in the late afternoon, Luang Phaw Datta-jeevo was passing Khun Yay's kuti and noticed her digging fertilizer around the foot of a tree near her kuti. Luang Phaw Dattajeevo approached her and stood behind her at a distance. It was a full four or five minutes before Khun Yay turned to greet him. He asked, '"Yay! Now you are in your old age, doesn’t tending to so many trees wear you out?"'" "No! It still doesn’t tire me. While I am working I continue to meditate at my centre — so I don’t become tired." "So what were you meditating on as you were working?" "As I work I observe the centre of the Dhammakāya inside and recollect the previous lifetimes of the Buddhas of the past to see how they pursued perfection and use these observations to see my own shortfalls so that I can improve on myself." Khun Yay was someone to train herself the whole of the time — taking the same standards used by the Lord Buddhas of the past to train herself. Only when a person is able to use the Lord Buddha’s teachings to teach themselves, will they be able to use those teachings to teach the rest of the world. In 1981 the temple was consecrated. Until that time it had been referred to as the ‘Dhamma Practice centre’. Since consecration, it has been known by its present name, ‘Phra Dhammakāya Temple’ or ‘Wat Phra Dhammakāya’. With the consecration of the temple, the number of people attending increased dramatically. The work of the temple, whether it be outreach, personnel training or construction work had to be done
