Anywhere else in the world, mere labourers wouldn’t get much attention from their employees. If she didn’t attend to them personally, she spoke to their supervisor such as Ven. Jhanabhino of the Construction and Maintenance Department, because the workers were seen as part of the temple com- munity too. Next, the tri-shaw brought Khun Yay to the monks' residential area where outsiders were normally for- bidden to enter. Inside the area, there were about twenty small kutis. These kutis were strongly built — each of them designated to accommodate a single teaching monk. Mostly, only senior monks who were the temple’s pioneers lived in this area. Each kuti is connected to the roadway by a small walkway. From the monks’ kutis, she continued to the meditation re- search workshop.1 Following the route, she returned to the temple's office building 'Purohita'. Khun Yay was at her best when she was on the tri- shaw inspecting the temple. As the temple’s founder, everything that she saw in the temple reminded her of the great dedication and exceptional effort that she devoted to elevate everyone’s life towards the Dhamma.
