Khun Yay listened to the requests attentively from the first until the last. She would ask Areepan if she had any doubts regarding the information. Then, Khun Yay entered her meditation in silence to help people. She would ask for more detail while she was meditating. For those who were in trouble and came to Khun Yay to request help, Khun Yay would help them with impartiality, sincerity and determination. She did not discriminate between people. It did not matter if the person was a new visitor or a familiar disciple. Khun Yay would try her best to help them whether she knew them or not.
Khun Yay's voice would murmur as she lay on her bed in silence in the darkness, with her hands in a gesture of prayer at her forehead while making the wish, “For those who came to see me asking for help, may they be fulfilled through the grace of merit.” After a pause, putting her hands again in a gesture of prayer she would say “May all of those who came to see me for help be fulfilled.”
One morning in November 1987 as Luang Phaw Dhammajayo was taking his breakfast, Khun Yay came humbly to his presence with her hands in a gesture of prayer. She said, “Venerable Sir! I have been thinking about something for two or three years now. I’d like to lead a Kathina Ceremony myself. I am eighty now and for all I know, this might be my last chance. Please let me lead the Kathina ceremony!”
Seeing Khun Yay’s intent and humility, Luang Phaw said, “Go ahead Yay with my blessing. I’m happy for you to lead the 1988 Kathina Ceremony.”
