and sealed. The wooden casket was then covered by a decorative casket made of solid silver and gold. Inside the golden casket were silver sheets woven together as a box. The exterior of the casket was made from real thin gold sheets woven together by a traditional goldsmith. Later on, Khun Yay's disciples joined together to offer a funeral shroud woven from solid gold threads called the 'Maha Suwanna Ratana Bhusa' to Khun Yay. It was used to drape the golden casket. The edges of this golden fabric were decorated with different kinds of precious stones. The shroud was embroidered with the words “In memory of Mahā Ratana Upāsika Chandra Khon-nok-yuong” Everything was superlatively made with love and respect for Khun Yay who was a great teacher to her disciples. It was deserving for Khun Yay who had always had great gratitude for her own teachers. Daily Abhidhamma funeral chanting was arranged from 17 September 2000 to 2 February 2001. Senior monks and executives of monastic orders from various temples throughout the country came to recite the Abhidhamma. There were a hundred monks each working day and two-hundred monks on Sundays with thousands of laypeople also in attendance. Khun Yay's last rites were held on 3 February 2002 in accordance with her wish to be cremated. Senior monks from 30,000 Buddhist temples all over Thailand, together with senior monks from twenty different countries all around the world — a total of 100,000 monks, were present in the final cremation ceremony before a hundred thousand laypeople, the biggest-ever assembly of monks known in Buddhist history.
