O! Monks! The Noble person is someone who both appreciates his debt of gratitude to others and repays that debt of gratitude. Such a person is praised by the noble ones. O! Monks! All forms of gratitude are the foundation of nobility.

About 1954, the Great Abbot had his students summoned from throughout the temple, saying that within five years he was going to die, but that all should continue to propagate the method of Dhammakāya meditation throughout the world — and that it would be very important and beneficial for mankind. His major concerns at that time were that the building work should be completed before his death, that offering of food to the monks should be sufficient and that the study of Buddhist Scripture should be maintained.
