As the number of her own students grew, the capacity of Khun Yay’s rickety kuti was exceeded. There was no longer enough space for everybody to sit for meditation. The group who came to meditate with her raised 58,000 Baht from scratch, allowing them to build a two-storey house with a kitchen, a bathroom and a small front garden, within the compound of Wat Paknam. It was a purpose-built for meditation teaching — the first home of ‘Dhammaprasit’ — the precursor of the Dhammakāya Foundation. The house was constructed with the engineering skills of the Ven. Narong Thitānāno and was given its name by Phrabhavanakosolthera. In the new house, Khun Yay retained her usual habits of cleanliness and orderliness. The group of students became known as the ‘Students of Dhammaprasit house’. The number of Khun Yay’s students grew rapidly as time went by. She continued to teach them meditation in great earnest.
