สรุปเนื้อหา

The Dhammacakka Pavattana Sutta is pivotal in Buddhism, offering a master-plan for all subsequent teachings by the Buddha. It was delivered to a group of five adept meditators, setting a clear framework for understanding the Dhamma. The thoroughness of Ānanda's records provides essential context for the teachings, emphasizing the significance of documenting key aspects of any event. Even if the Buddha had only shared this one teaching, his role in enlightening the world would have been complete, akin to how a nation's Constitution serves as a fundamental guide for its laws. For practitioners and scholars alike, understanding the Sutta's principles is crucial to grasping the essence of Buddhist philosophy and meditation practices. The collective recognition of the 'group of five' highlights the depth of the meditation discipline among early followers of the Buddha, illustrating their influential status in society.

From Ānanda's example, we can learn principles of recording notes on any activity that we must always be able to write down “what” it is about, “when” it was done, “where” it happened, “to whom” it happened and “the effect” it had. Thus, the Dhammacakka pavattana Sutta was given for the benefit of the 'group of five' who would have been some of the foremost meditation adepts of the day. They were of a quality that was recognized by kings, courtiers and philoso-phers alike. 3. It is so important because it acts like a master-plan for all the subsequent teach-ings on Buddhism given during the Buddha's lifetime. Even if the Lord Buddha were to teach the Dhammacakka-pavattana Sutta and never to teach another word of Dhamma for the rest of his life, His duty in proclaiming the Dhamma to the world would have been fulfilled. Just as each country of the world has a Constitution as the master-plan for the rest of the laws of the country to expand upon — similarly,
