Journey to Joy 170 I was a legless single mother of two young children at that point of time in my life. I had to take care of my children on top of the challenges I faced when taking care of myself. I had to scoop water to bathe myself and my children and I also had to do the household chores. I endured this for over six months until my wounds healed and there wasn't any bleeding when I forced my body to move. I had to do a heavy load of chores like cooking and laundry, and I had to sell groceries in a rental space which provided a mere income to support my two children. My earnings were only 100-200 baht (US$5) per day. I had to ask the customers to scoop and weigh the rice themselves, but everyone was eager and willing to help. If there was a male customer, I would ask him to pull the sacks of rice out for me. I sat on the wheelchair all day long and I did not have the time to lie down or rest because I had to
